Apologies, finally having the opportunity to summarize and reflect on our 2nd Annual West Coast Training Camp held the end of August and participating in the Gathering of Masters Event and Taboada Balintawak World Camp.
Taboada Balintawak West Coast Camp August 26-28
Another successful Seattle training camp with 70+ participants. Out of town guest instructors included Guros: Brian Corey (Charlotte, NC), Jeff Soriano (Winston-Salem, NC), Dr. Patrick Schmitt (Cleveland, OH), and Jhun Occidental (Los Angeles, CA). Congrats to Belton Lubas for successfully passing Level 6, "Completion of the Art." And of course special thanks to our beloved "Doctor of Stickology," Grandmaster Bobby Taboada, our event headliner - thank you for sharing your art and your continued support and guidance.
Global Fellowship of Masters, Phoenix, AZ September 1-3
Balintawak Seattle members: Arielle Fontelara, Lance Lu, Lorenzo Carlos, Ken Pontelandolfo, Tony Manutani, and Guro John, participated in the 2nd Gathering of Masters. It was a fascinating sharing of systems and true display of fellowship and brotherhood. Highlights for the Seattle group included special intensive training sessions with GM Bobby Taboada and GM Nene Gaabucayan. Thank you to GM Sam Buot and the Buot Balintawak Group for the outstanding hospitality and hosting a memorable event.
Taboada Balintawak World Camp, September 30 - October 2nd
This year Guro John, Raul Tabile, and Lorenzo Carlos represented the Balintawak Seattle group at the annual fall event. The event was hosted by Guro Alex Ormaza and Debbie Ormaza at their spacious Ormaza Dojo located in Dallas, NC. As anticipated the event was filled with highlight after highlight. It was heartwarming to be around such a positive group with tremendous encouragement and support for each other as well as trademark Taboada Balintawak friendship and camaraderie. Testing day was outstanding, to see the future generation of Balintawak Eskrimadors and the talented individuals was inspiring. Can't wait till next year!
