Welcome to the official site of Balintawak Seattle
The Balintawak Seattle group was established in 2008. It consisted of a small group of students led by Guro John Soriano, training was conducted in Guro John's garage. In 2011 the group moved to the West Seattle Karate School, within a few months the West Seattle space was quickly outgrown, eventually the group relocated to it's present location, the Filipino Community Center.
Balintawak Seattle has become an umbrella organization with training groups in Seattle and Covington. It includes affiliates in Bellingham, Factoria (Bellevue), Lake City (North Seattle), Spokane, and Tri-Cities. It was the first Balintawak organization established in Washington State and one of only a few schools dedicated to the Filipino martial art of Balintawak Eskrima in the Pacific Northwest.
Our mission: "To preserve and promote the art of Balintawak eskrima, support the martial arts community, and be a positive example - advocating friendship and brotherhood."
The Filipino Community Center of Seattle is the home for Balintawak Seattle. The group meets every Thursday 6:30PM-8:30PM. Visitors are always welcome to drop by and observe class.
