Welcome to the official site of Balintawak Seattle
Balintawak Seattle was established in 2008. It was the first Balintawak school established in Washington State and the leading proponent dedicated to the Filipino martial art of Balintawak Eskrima in the Pacific Northwest. The original members were a backyard training group who practiced out of the garage of Guro John Soriano. The group outgrew the garage, briefly trained at the West Seattle Karate School, and from 2011 - 2019 the group moved to the Filipino Community Center of Seattle with additional training groups established throughout the region. The current home for Balintawak Seattle is at the Cortez Martial Arts Center in Covington, Washington.
Balintawak Seattle is a proud member of the International Taboada Balintawak Organization headed by Grandmaster Bobby Taboada. As a regional chapter Balintawak Seattle is comprised of training groups in the following Washington State cities: Bellevue, Bellingham, Bothell, Covington, Marysville, Olympia, Renton, Seattle, Spokane, and Vancouver. Please see our "Community Links" page for instructor contact information.
Our mission: "To preserve and promote the art of Taboada Balintawak Eskrima, support the martial arts community, and be a positive example - setting high standards of character, advocating friendship and brotherhood."
